Enermax Noisetaker EG495P-VE 485W or Antec TruePowerII 550W is the quieter PSU?

Hey all, looking to make a new SFF PC build, and want it to be as quiet as possible (I'll probably just run it at stock speeds). Here are the components:

- Aspire X-Qpack microATX case
- Foxconn 6150K8MA mATX nvidia 6150/430 motherboard
- AMD Athlon64 3500+ Venice s939 CPU
- Zalman CNPS7000B-CU
- 2x1GB Corsair XMS DDR400 RAM
- eVGA 7800GT CO (470/1100 stock speeds)
- 80GB, 7200RPM Western Digital SATAII HDD
- 500GB, 7200RPM Maxtor SATAII HDD
- Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card
- 52x CDRW
- Floppy drive

Ok, now I just have to pick a PSU. Assuming that my base PSU is an Enermax Noisetaker EG495P-VE 485W, I can pay $20 more for an Antec TruePowerII 550W (a bit more power and SLI-certified, not that I'll ever use SLI). My question is, which one do you guys think is quieter? I think the Enermax Noisetaker uses 1x80mm and 1x92mm fans, and the Antec TruePowerII just uses 1x120mm fan. Again, I want my SFF PC as quiet as possible, so which one do you guys recommend for quietness (I assume both PSU's can handle my PC components quite well with dual 18a +12V rails). Or should I just suck it up and spend more and get the Seasonic S12-600 (touted as one of most quiet PSUs). Thanks in advance for your tips!

well, to save some cash, I'm buying used :). So I've narrowed down my options to these 3. Please advise, thanks :)

I have the Enermax Noisetaker EG495AXVE, and it is very quiet. Silent? No, but depends on ambient noise level. In a sealed room w/ no heater/AC or fans blowing, and the PC case fans off, you can hear the PSU fan from about 3 foot away. Ambient noise level of the room is critical to any sff/htpc build.

thanks for the link Howard! I Pmed that guy about the tornado 400W as it seems like a great deal. How does the Super Tornado compare to the newer S12-430/S12-600 in terms of quietness? Also, Thanks hellokeith for your input. My SFF PC will be in my bedroom, about 4ft from where I sleep, hence why I want it to be as quiet as possible.

The Yate Loon fan in combination with the new fan controller circuit makes for a real and audible reduction in the noise of the Super Tornado, which is especially nice at higher power output. At the 300W output, it is probably the quietest of all the PSUs tested thus far. (Conditions that vary significantly from the SPCR test rig can skew this conclusion, however.)

heh, don't worry Howard, I'll probably buy that Seasonic Super Tornado anyways as a backup or for another rig. I know I can swap the fan tjpartk1111, but I'd rather not void any warranties :). Thanks again for the tips guys.

You're looking at probably 200 watts DC there. Buy the 600 watt S12 if you want but it's a waste of money in my opinion.
