ENERMAX Liberty 400W - Gigabyte DS3

I just got an ENERMAX Liberty PSU and a Gigabyte DS3 board. I´m scared cause the fan on the PSU won´t spin when I start aPC. Just before a while it spins at low RPM with suddenly stops. I don´t want it to burn. And my new board wont boot with any PSU: gigabyte DS3, patriot DDR2 667 mem and a E6300. The processor fan tries to spin in little pulses without starting at all. Is something fried? Sould I RMA?????

Hey...ive got an e6300 with Transcend DDR667 512MB x 2 and a DS3. I had the same issue, the board fans would spin up, or atleat try to, and then stop. No POST, no beeps nothing. It works fine when the ram is put in different colored slots in SINGLE-CHANNEL mode. My Transcend memory has Micron chips, i think its a compatibility issue. Why dont you try the latest F7 bios, and see if your board runs in single channel? Lets work this out together!

Patriot 667 should be fine for the DS3. Assuming it is the 1.8v modules?

The issue you mention is a known issue and usually happens with a RAM issue of some sort.

Well guys, I worked on it all day. It booted 🙂 . It looks like the cpu fan fully spins when its been a minute or so. Before fully spinning, it looks like little pulses trying to start with a 1 second or two interval between pulses. Tomorrow I will turn off the fan control feature to see if it starts running inmediately at full speed. That would be good news I guess. But the PSU has the same issue, even if it worked all day and no troble. That fan takes a while to spin, too. I am starting to think it is a normal temperature control searching for a target temp.

Its a little scary when you start a system and do not see any fan running!!! :Q

By the way, my gigabyte silent 7600GS card is as hot as a cooking pot, I could fry my breakfast eggs in there!!! I think its better to put a system fan next to it, I dont want it to fry, or to melt any cable.

I will tell you what happens next.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Best

It worked. It looks like the fan control would make the fan to spin just after the cpu reaches certain temp. But still, when i turn on the pc, it takes a while to start, and the hard disk starts spinning two times before POST. When the HDD starts spinning the second time, the cpu fan starts spinning, too. The PSU fan still takes a while to spin, but the system is stable until now. I will check the F7 bios and well see.

Bye.

Opinions appreciated.
