Hi everyone...I'm planning to get a new rig soon...originally planning to get the Corsair 450W but just found a much cheaper option..the Enermax FMA II...

Link

Do you guys think it'll be sufficient for this build ?

E8200
2 x 2gb ram DDR 667
Gigabyte P35 DS3
Gigabyte 8800gt 512mb
1-2 hdd
1-2 optical drive

Thanks in advance ;-)

According to the datasheet, the top-of-the-line FMAII PSU (535W) only has 34a total on the 12v rails, which is the same amount of power provided by the Antec Earthwatts 500W. However, that is more than is offered by the Corsair unit you specified (33a).

I don't know anything about the overall quality of the FMAII PSUs, but if I were to compare them to anything, I'd compare them to the Earthwatts 500W which has done quite well in reviews:

Of course, don't let that stop you from looking at other ~500W units out there that might fit your needs (something from Enhance, perhaps). Still, the Earthwatts can be had on the cheap, especially if you can find it with some instant rebates.

You can't just use a good review of one PSU similar in specs but with different OEMs and speculate another PSU will be similar.

I'll not go into all the details of the multiple rail versus single railed argument but the Corsair is a much better PSU. While total amperage is 1A less then the Enermax its overall quality is far better then the FMA2. A system can get more out of the Corsair then it could the Enermax and its because of the Multiple vs. single rail issue. I'm not knocking the Enermax. Its a god quality PSU but if you can afford the Corsair then that is your better choice. But either PSU can handle the system fine.

The problem is that there are good, thorough reviews of the VX450 and Earthwatts 500, but not so many reviews of the FMA2-series PSUs. The few I found were not terribly thorough. For all I know it may have the same overall build quality as either one of those units, though somehow I doubt it.

Also, based on the OP's system, I doubt he'll have any trouble with a dual-rail PSU. However, he would definitely want the 535W version of the FMA2 rather than the 460W one if he decides to go with one of those.

Were I in his position, I'd be looking at the Earthwatts 500W, but that's just me.
