Enermax EG495AX-VE

Anyone got this PSU? I bought one brand new and it works great. But everytime I turn my system on I hear a very very like sound that sounds like a spark or maybe like static when you touch metal or someone sometime. I am curious if anyone else notices this? You would have to be paying attention to hear it.

Might just be something with this Abit NF7-S. I plan on upgrading to maybe a DFI NF4 Ultra-D.

Just curious if I need to RMA this week and a half old PSU.

What's the wattage on that? I have a EG495P-VE. Looks very similar. Mine is rated at 485W, and it's a NoiseTaker as well.

I pulled up a couple reviews on the model you listed, and it looks exactly the same as mine aside from the color of yours looks a little darker blue.

As for my satisfaction with it, I have to say that so far it's the best PSU that I've owned. It replaced a TTGI 550W, and I was able to take my Athlon 3200+ Winchester to 2.6 @1.5V immediately after switching out. The TTGI was unstable at 2.4

its also a 485w. I think my has couple different features then yours. Does your system make a slight noise aside from the fans starting up?

No, my system is much quieter now. The fans do fire up at full speed for a few seconds, but it's not loud to me.

BTW, I'm running 4 hard drives and 4 opticals as well as a 6600GT

I mean as soon as you hit the power button. Its not constant.

The only noise I hear is the fans. What kind of noise are you hearing? Does it sound electrical or mechanical?

Is this the PFC 485W power supply, or the non PFC one.

Either way, I have the PFC version and I never noticed this noise.

sounds electrical I guess. I think I'll call Enermax Monday and see what they say. If it needs to be RMA'ed I want to try and get it going before I get my other parts.

BTW its the PFC version I think.
