Enermax and Thermaltake

Which of these 2 PSU brands are better? And how do they compete with top notch brand slike Antec and PC P&C.

Enermax.

I'd say Enermax is about even with Antec, though some of Enermax's PSUs have better amperage on the 12v rail. PCP&C is the best of them all, obviously, as the price reflects.

Nothing special - its quiet about the same as psu in the Sonata and earlier Enermax psu that did not have the Noise taker label. I have been using Enermax psu for the last 4 years - in general they tend to be quiet, stable and very reliable.

Enermax without a doubt is better than Tt.

Enermax is one of the best PSU brands.

Enermax is even better than Antec. I've used many PSUs from both brands. I installed a Thermaltake 430W PSU in my junk computer last week because of its low price (I'd removed that computer's PSU for use in another machine).

The Thermaltake feels light and cheap. My Enermax power supplies feel solid and much heavier . The Thermaltake's voltages fluctuate more than the Enermax's when going from low to high system loads. Also, the Thermaltake emits a very quiet capacitor hiss/buzz. It's so quiet that I can only hear it when the computer is turned off (fans and hard drives drown out the noise).

Both brands seem to have great reliability. I've been using Enermax PSU's for over four years and I haven't had a single failure. In fact, my first Enermax PSU is running at this moment.

stay away from Termaltake powersupplies if you need a lot of power for a system. imo Tt is slightly above those generic psus u get with cases, enermax on the other hand is quite a reputable psu company. I agree that they are about equal with antec. Sesonic are around there too. Then you have the OCZ powerstreams, PCP&C and fortron that lead the way. PCP&C being by far the best.

Lest you forget, Zippy/Emacs=PCP&C. Even the HG-2 6300P (300 watt) has 22A @12V @ 40C constant with no flucuation in voltage. I just bought a HG-2 6400P, 30A @ 12V.
The fans on these are quieter than the Fortrons with"Noise Killer"thermal control.

There are much better options then Thermaltake. Thermaltake would be considered average. They are not so bad that they will fry your componenets, but they are bad enough to not recommend them. There are way better supplys out there that are even cheaper then TT units.

I run enermax in all my pc's and they're stable and reliable. The last time I had power related issues was when I was running antec's but no more.

Seasonic and Fortron would be the ones that immediately come to mind.

Antec's "TruePower" and "NeoPower" lines are also pretty good (as are Enermax's higher-end models, like the "Liberty" series). Thermaltake doesn't really have anything to compete with these.

Antec and Enermax's lower-end PSUs are pretty average. I'd put TT in the same category. These are a cut above generic no-name crap, but not great in terms of build quality.

I have had several enermax PSU's and never had any trouble with them. They tend to have beefy 12v rails. My 350w Enermax ran an overclocked prescott, 6800GT, and dual raptors with no issues. My thermaltake 420w, with a pathetic 12v rail, died after 2 days running a non-overclocked prescott, with a 9600pro, and a single hard drive. The replacement has been running since, but I'll never buy another thermaltake.

Haven't had any trouble with my Antec's or Fortron either. Overall I think fortron is the best bang for the buck price wise, still good quality, but not overpriced.

I have the Enermax Liberty 500 & it does what it's supposed to...& very well...Plus it's ready to go for SLI, which I'll be running shortly...

I was a little skeptical about the cabling system on the Liberty, but after working with it for a bit, their system fits perfect with my components & structure in my case.

The 22" ATX power cable is a very nice feature as well.

just wish ocz would release a powerful sli ready modstream. That would really shave things down. as of now, NOBODY has a modular powerful reliable and stylish powersupply BUT enermax with their liberty series.

I agree. I had to sell my OCZ Modstream 520 to my brother because the cabling system didn't even come close to being long enough for my case...Not only that, but they only include 1 PCI-e cable w/ the PSU...Pretty lame, considering it has 2 PCI-e connections right on it...

Modular PSU`s are not where its at sorry to say!
Albeit Enermax is a fine PSU.

If I went Modular I would go Hiper over anybody else that has a modular PSU on the market.

Just fine, or better. A Noisetaker 600W is one of the few retail power supplies that support server power requirements (EPS12V).
