Enermax & 8KHA+

Is there an existing incompatibility issue with the use of an Enermax 431W PSU for a 8KHA+ mobo? If so, what alternatives should I take?

Also, May you 8KHA+ owners please list some of the most popular issues/problems ppl are having w/ this mobo?

I`m using the Enermax 431w and Epox 8KHA+ with no problem ,I get on average 4.98v on the 5v rail,if you want to look at other brands then Antec,Sparkle 400w are good choices as well.

I`ve had no problems to speak of with my Epox.

🙂

I think most people was having probs with the high RMA rate on this board. It's quite often that you are getting the bad batch. If you got the good one you'll be one happy camper. As far for PS--dont think it will matter.

What kind of error/conflict is occuring? Lockups, dead, speeds, etc?

You ppl who have had problems w/ the voltage in the 431W Whisper PSUs, let me know...thanks!

other then the RMA issue..........when you o/c your fsb to high......you can get a soft reboot problem.......alot of users have had it and fix it with a bios flash....
when you are at say 170 fsb....and go to bios and change something....you click accept and the computer just sits there like you had a setting to aggressive.....but you just have to hit the reset button or power button and it will reboot with the new settings.....like i said there is a bios fix for it......and if you dont o/c to high its not an issue

yeah noticed these "lock up" errors only in overclocking... and didn't realize a reset kept the bios settings... hmmm gotta try this...
thanks.

Many ppl reported a low 5v rail. Hamper O/Cing. But can be solved w/ the pot mod on the PSU.

Antec, Sparkle, Leadmen, Enlight PSU

O/Cing w/ rebooting, hanged...most r O/Cing related. Latest bios on 02/11/2001 cleared the bug.

Thanks a lot Wind! Just what the info I was needing 😀 I think you have helped me out before too, i remember the name. You da' man, hehe.

Sorry, but I think that's a bunch of bs. I tried 5 ps with my 8KHA+ to see if any of them would yield better results. I tested PS from Antec, Sparkle, Aopen, HEC, and a generic TigerPro ranging from 300 to 420W. The Antec had the best voltage readings of the bunch, but still after I modified it's rails even higher, I didn't gain anything in terms of higher overclockability. Don't buy a pos generic ps, but don't go overboard spending a fortune on something you may not need. If you have the Enermax 431W, by all means try it first before you ditch it.

Have the Enermax 431w and Epox board since yesterday and set it up like a breeze problem free. My voltage rails stays pretty close to 5V and up.

I built a 8KHA+ XP1900 with a 431 Enermax and have no problems but it is a cheap made power supply when it comes to the IDE connections so watch out if you move them a lot they will short out on you

I don't o/c at all and I have the boot problem. I wouldn't recommend the 8KHA+ due to the boot-up problems I've experienced with it. Even with good Crucial RAM and a 300W Antec power supply, I still sometimes have to press the reset button to get it to boot. I'm not even overclocking it and we're talking a cold boot here not a soft re-boot. I tried the latest 11/2 BIOS and even the "so called" FIX beta BIOS but seems to be a problem with my +5volt being heavily loaded down by the EPoX design. Mine is at 4.85 volts.

The problem isnt just with the enermax. I had my 8KHA+ hooked up to my enermax 330w and the 5 volt rail never read 5. would be between 4.8-4.95 depending on load. I swapped it out for a 400 Antec and altho it does touch 5 and doesnt dip below 4.85, there wasnt that huge of a differnce. I put the 330W enermax in my k7S5A rig and the 5v rail reads steady 5 and hasnt dipped under 4.92.
