i've shorlisted 2 PSU that is available here.

1. Enermax ATX12V v1.3 EG465 460W. The +5V, +3.3V and +12V rail is rated max 35A.
2. Antec True480 480W. The +5V is rate max 38A, +3.3V is 30A and the +12V rail is rated max 28A.

I think both has dual fan.

Which is the better? Opinion pls, i'm a complete newb.

I prefer Antec PSU's... I've always had good results with their True Power line, and now the Neo Power unit inside my current rig...

Me too - love my Antec True550 and my Antec NeoPower.

Lou

You might want to wait a few... Antec is releasing the next version of their Truepower line very soon. 120mm fan (even quieter), better efficiency, etc, etc. Do a google search for it at the CES show.

I'd just hate to see you buy the old Truepower then have the new and better Truepower come out a week later.

Yeah if I were buying today, I'd definately get the Neopower. Gotta love the modular design. It has one up on the OCZ modstream in terms of performance and features too.

Antec makes very stable psu at a very reasonble sound level. Using a 430 now and looking into their new line coming out for my new system, phantom 500. Enermax makes a good product as well, just think the antec is a bit better.

I'm hooking up to :

1. AMD Athlon64 3000+
2. MSI K8N NEO2, socket 939
3. 1x Maxtor SATA 120GB HDD
4. 2x Kingston PC3200 DDR400 512MB
5. GeForce 6600GT, AGP
6. CDRW (from my old rig)
7. Maxtor 40GB ATA66 HDD (old rig)

I heard that the Enermax has an additional 4-pin socket. What is it for? and does Antec has it also.

How does it have a one up on the modstream other than maybe a more known PSU brand? Just curious as I am deciding between the 2.

the modstream is cheaper can be had for 82 shipped from monarch. I will be purchasing one of those instad of the neo which cost about 20-30 more!

are you serious??!! new truepowers?!?! arrg, i just got mine 🙁
oh well, it is still super quiet and works great 😀

Then in that case, you'd be fine with a ~350 Watter unit - again, ENERMAX. No sense in buying Watts you won't use.
