The Energy Veritas 2.1 speakers are on sale at AudioAdvisor.com for $499.95 a pair shipped using a "freeshipping" coupon you can find elsewhere on the internet. You can choose from Gloss Black or the Cherry Veneer. They are made in Canada and originally priced for $1000.00 per pair and are still sold at specialty audio stores at that price. Here in Austin, Texas, Audio By Design still carries it for that price. So for 50% off it's a hell of a deal with no shipping charges or tax (except in MI).

From the manufacturer:
For music lovers looking to upgrade the performance of your system without drastic investment, the Energy Veritas V2.1 bookshelf speaker system is just for you. Energy Veritas V2.1 is attractively designed, compact and versatile for big sound in a small room. Think of it as your speakers, or the perfect compliment to your weekend getaway residence. Visit your nearby authorized Energy retailer and experience an upgrade in performance with Energy Veritas V2.1.

Here's the manufacturer's link.

Here's are user reviews at AudioReview.com.

If you have a retailer in your area, run and listen to the speakers and jump on this deal before it's gone.

Many are interested yet few can afford. I would love to own a pair of energys but the price even @ 50% discount is far to hard on my wallet :p Very nice deal however for the 5% that can afford it?

I personally haven't audtioned these, however I remember the original floor-standing Veritas very well. They were incredible speakers, albeit at $4k or $5k a pair (I don't remember), a little pricey. One of my favorite speakers ever.

The thing about speakers is, once you've been in the audio industry and discover the actual cost of materials, it's really hard to buy speakers at retail, even when they're 50% off.

I have the (older) eXL line of engergy speakers; they comprise my entire surround sound (2 front, center, dipole rears and subwoofer). Can't speak highly enough of them. They are great for tv, movies and even music. Despite that, I would recommend auditioning whatever speakers one might be considering because different speakers sound different.

I recommend auditioning any speaker before you buy also. Usually, I bring my own music and some stores will let you audition speakers overnight if you are serious about purchasing them.

The Altec Lansings may sound pretty good for computer speakers, but these aren't computer speakers or white van speakers. :)

I am, but I've already taken care of myself in the speaker department. These would be nice for a second system, but I already have two extra pairs of bookshelf speakers for a second system. One thing you'll realize in this hobby is that you will accumulate a bunch of stuff over time, and you will develop a sentimental attachment to some of it. Even though these are better than the spare bookshelfs I have, I can't justify buying another pair of spare speakers as much as I would love to buy these.

I'll bet these sound pretty good and I really think anyone in the market for a pair of speakers and cares about music should check them out. I've bought stuff from AA before and their service is great with fast shipping, and I think they have a 30 day refund policy. Personally, if I was in the market I would order them now and check them out at home on my system. I would also make sure to get a pair of good stands (very important).

Those look pretty nice and great saving too. I got my M&K bookshelf speakers for the same price, but doesn't look as good. I think my M&K sounded a little better though.

OMG these are Veritas 2.1s. Has anyone actually listened to these things? For $500/pair you really can't do any better (the Veritas tweeter sounds awesome).

Yeah I've listened to these and the 2.2's in a local audio shop in Austin since around 2001. They are incredible and well built and sound great in my opinion. I listened to the Paradigm Studio 20's and I like the sounds from the Veritas a lot better. With the price being 50% off, I can now afford them.

Haven't heard these, but they are highly regarded as outstanding speakers for the money. I have the lower end Energy C-1 and they are fantastic for the price I paid, I would get these if I weren't broke :(

I know you listened to them. I was wondering if the guy who says his M&K speakers sound better actually heard both, or if he is speculating.

I haven't listened to the M&K, but I think he maybe speculating. Or he may have auditioned them against the Energy. It depends. It's hard to do a good comparison because one store carries a line and the next store carries a different speaker line. It's best if you can do a in home audition. Some specialty stores will allow you to do it overnight.

I posted some comments in Daniel's thread over at FW (which is erupting into an argument because of some fanboy posting misinformation).

In a nutshell:

- Energy makes great speakers. The Veritas line is fantastic.
- This particular model, the V2.1, is "okay" for $1000 but very good for $500. Professional reviews are mixed, and few/far between.
- However, other speakers like the Axiom M22ti and Ascend CBM-170 may offer a better bang for the buck, and consistently beat out more expensive speakers, while winning tons of industry awards.

They're a little too "transient" and I'm not a big fan of electro static panels.

i'm not sure about martin kogans, but i agree that martin logans are a bit transient.

i still like them a lot though, just for their aesthetic appeal. if i could afford them i'd turn in my PSB's for martin logan's any day.

I agree that the Martin Logans and Magnepan's are transient. I'm not a fan of electro stats either, but visually they are aesthetically pleasing, because they don't take up a lot of space. I went to listen to the MMG's larger brother the MG1.6 and while they did sound good, I wasn't impressed. The low end definitely seemed to be missing. While the MG1.6 is thin it is tall and can be considered obtrussive. The same store also carried Martin Logans and the sound seemed to be more balanced from those speakers. All the speaker I looked at in that store were more than $1200. I think the Energy Veritas 2.1 can hold their own especially at a price point of $500.00. I got mine in gloss black and I think the quality and build is awesome and they sound great.
