Hello. This is a kinda unusual question, but we seem to have a very rich mix of people here so I figure that I might get an answer. How much energy is relased by burning one unit (gram, cc, whatever) of propane under STP (air mix of elements)conditions? Thanks.

Be Cool,

Well if there is no other chemicals present except for the propane and oxygen, it is 100% efficient as only carbon and H2O are left over.

In those situations its quite a lot of energy.

According to my online reference, the standard heat of combustion of propane is -2.043e3 kJ/mol. 1 mol= 44 g, which means 46.4 kJ/g.
