Energy pick is Trump's administration personified!

This has to be one of the saddest but funniest things I've ever seen in the history of presidential appointments. Trump picked Rick Perry to be Energy secretary, which is already funny enough. Better than that though, he picked the guy who in the past pledged to abolish the department but when asked about it couldn't remember what it was.

Perfect mix of stupidity and incompetence. I love it.

It would super funny....if real people didn't vote for this walking, inevitable disaster.

Trump has stopped leaving the troll phaser at the "stun" setting I see.

Hopefully he can start shutting down the agency until the House/Senate can vote on it. After all Ronald Reagan was in favor of eliminating the Department of Energy.

Trump, just following in the footsteps of Reagan.
How could he just shut down an agency? The executive doesn't have the power of impoundment and Congress hasn't authorized funding for shutting down the agency

He can certainly get started on it, and wait for the House/Senate to authorize it. As it said in my post. There's a number of things Gov. Perry can get started on in regards to Executive orders, changes in policy, rooting out partisans etc. to get the ball rolling.

Again - how can he get started on it? He doesn't have the authority to redirect funds towards achieving that goal.

Haha, awesome. 'Rooting out partisans' of course is known in other words as an ideological purge.

Pretty great how quickly the mask has fallen away.
