How much electricity do you use? I think it is the combo of heat + ac that must suck up that much juice.

edit how do you calculate how many kWh for things you know the wattage of ?

70kwh a day? Ouch. My bill from 5/13/06 to 6/14/06 is 87 bucks for 723Kwh. That's about 23Kwh per day.

Put your AC on a timer if it doesn't have a power-save feature or just shut it off if no one is home.

if you know the wattage, 1W=.001KW. Multiply that by the hours you run the thing. 100W Lightbulb run for a full day is .1KW*24h = 2.4KW-hrs

(X watts) * (1 kW / 1000 W) * (t hours)

energy = power * time

70 kilowatts a day?!?!?

that 2.1 megawatts in 30 days.

Are you running your AC every single day?

If this a normal occurance, you might get that Kill a Watt device and try it out on your heavy uesers like the fridge, and older tvs.

Summer months I run about 700 to 800 kilowatts usually June through August. others 500 to 600.

the only thing that puzzles is PG&E baseline of 273kwh per month. who uses that little. What's in their house, fridge, washer, dry and one TV?

My rats are always home

So put them in the fridge and thaw them out when the snakes are hungry. Heat lamps/rocks work too.

I have 400 rats in the freezer, and 400 rats breeding and producing babies. I dont have a fridge that would fit 400 rats, and even if i did, rats dont breed under certain temps... the ideal temps are ~ 62-75 degrees

plus i have to keep some fresh air coming in :p

Last month at my old apartment was 259 kWh. That was about $22 (with a 20% discount), so should've been $29.

My new bill is $50.07, and since my roommate takes care of that I can't tell how much the energy usage was, but I'm guessing it will be around 430 - 450 kWh?

Damn 800kW for a month for me cost $160 in texas. If you fill your fridge with stuff it uses less power, use flourescent bulbs, and put foam sealing in the door helps.

This thread is confusing me. We're certainly going to have another thread about a rat or 400 popping out of an airconditioner, and just about everywhere else.

16.4 a day for me. I tend to spend the hotter parts of the day at the offic,e so nothing is on at home, but once I get home around 6:30, ac is on till about 10.

Average port day = 672,000 kWh
Average sea day (24 hour period) = 1,080,000 kWh

Avg bunker C (heavy diesel) consumption = 1 u.s. gallon per second.

Questions? ;)
