This is an excellent deal.
The 650A powers my computer and 19" lcd monitor with no problems.
It's very nice to have if you're in an area where the power tends to go on-and-off (like where I am).
It includes Automatic Voltage Regulation.

Just wanted to say thanks to the OP. My local Staples had one left that rang up at $24.95, great deal! I like the fact that it has surge connection for coax cable lines.

Last time I had a power out, my APC failed to maintain the system. I only had the main computer and the LCD monitor plugged into it! I cut power immediately. My question is, how long is the battery in these things supposed to last? I'm on my second UPS and they seem to bow out at the 3 year mark...

The Energizer 450va ups is also on clearance at Staples for $13.50. Same features as the 650va but a smaller battery.

No, VA is not the battery size. It is another way to specify the maximum output power capability. It has nothing to do with the battery capacity.

A good UPS will warn you (beeps) when the battery becomes weak. Unless you have more load plugged into your UPS than you should. Then, your problem is not the battery!

3 Years seems about right for a lead-acid battery.
I plan to buy a cheap car battery for my UPS when the UPS battery goes.

The Energizer 450 is junk. The 650 is great.

No. These batteries use deep discharge cells, like marine batteries. Car batteries aren't designed to discharge that much: you'll kill it.

I had thought of replacing my dead battery with a marine battery, but there's a second problem: the charge rate is designed for the original battery size -- use a much larger battery and you end up with plate sulfication.

For replacing the battery there's a number of placed out there that offer *much* better deals than APC. Goggle'll find 'em.

On line says: 74.99 after entering my zip code. Went out at lunch time to check. 1st store in my area - none in stock. 2nd store - asked employee if they had any...He found 3. Price tag listed them as on sale for 69.99 and the employee didn't know about any clearance price. Checked price at register - rings up as 24.99. Score! Needed 3 so I bought all of them. Thanks OP

I think I'll be checking out Staples on the way home... $25 for a 650va unit ain't bad. Anybody know the battery capacities on these things? Can you buy generics that hold more of a charge?

Got 2 of these this morning, price on shelf said 49.99 but I knew better, rang up for $24.99. The packaging on both were a little messed up (a small tear), but other than that this was a great deal. The site for energizer UPS's is www.energizerpower.com, they say Retail price is 89.99.

Is 300W and 650VA enough for an A64 system? I wouldn't need particularly long run time, but would it just fail for not being able to provide enough power or what?
