Enemy Territory Crashing My Computer

I've played Enemy Territory for months now, and never have had trouble. Recently, I realized on startup (with the small window and text before loading into the fullscreen game) that some things said crashed and unsafe (it scrolls to fast to read exactly what). Then, everytime I enter a game, right after I choose my class in the limbo menu, and go into the game, it crashes. What's the problem?

I'm running it on an older video card ( ATI Radeon 7000), and I always assumed those errors were because it didn't fully support all of the graphics transformations and "stuff". It used to be rather finicky about starting games, but now it works about 4/5 of the time. Make sure you've got the patch, and try enabling / disabling punkbuster. Beyond that ... I don't know.

It is one heck of a free game, IMHO.

Hmm...I'm using a Ti4200 with the newest drivers. I'm pretty sure it can handle the graphics, because I'm playing with antialiasing or anisoptric filtering off at 800x600x32.

yupppppppppppppppppp

I had the same problem when I had OCed my computer to a little over stable limits (for prime95). ET is really sensitive to OC-ing and kept crashing 1-2 seconds after getting out of limbo mode.

Now, I use ET as a stability test 🙂

I get similar errors in the launching screen (small window @ desktop) where it tells me various components have crashed. However, the game runs fine on me and it hasn't crashed a single time.

Have you tried unintstalling completely and reinstalling from scratch?

My duron was ... I forgot about that =) But to be fair, it still crashes, although not nearly as often.

ET was the only program that crashed in my otherwise stable OCed machine. I increased the Vcore and its been rock solid ever since.

Hmm...I tried this too. I think it's a hardware problem. What should I check for? Graphics card? RAM?

Yay! I fixed the problem! Turns out it was the new nvidia drivers (52.some) screwing it up, and it works great now that I've switched back to 44.
