Yeah what sucks is you can't just bring out 50 scampis, you have to run eveytime they want a dish of 10. I always tip 15% minimum, usually 20, but this sounds like a 25% situation.

25% would be MUCH appreciated, I pay bills and fill my car up with this money, but unfortunately the endless shrimp thing brings in a bunch of lower class customers that leave like $2 as a tip. I can't pay bills with $2 tips.

OMG get your head out of your ass please. You are a server at Red Lobster. You're not supposed to make $15/hour - but if you're good, you already do. Quit whining about the people that don't tip 25%.. 15% is good.. 20% is great..

All servers whine and call people cheap.. yet they make more than almost any other non-skilled profession.

No thanks. I would much rather choose to take a higher paying job than choose to take a sh*t-paying job where I have to make up the rest of my paycheck by rudely harrassing my customers until they pay me to give them good service. I'd rather earn my paycheck not bribe it from my customers since my employer is too fvcking cheap to pay me an honest wage.

Me too, but alas this is the only job I can get while I try to finish school. I'm already way in debt, and with the bills and such piling on life is not good. No I do not have a skill other than serving but I gotta fvcking live as well.

I've never known a server to claim 100% of their tips.

You work in the food industry?

I'm one of the vile members that you discuss. Yes, I'm a server.

What makes servers "vile" is how they treat their customers. I don't have anything against servers in general. I hate the ones that think they deserve a tip for whatever reason.

I think it'd be fun as your customer  I'd, like, bitch and complain about everything, just because it's you :D I'd be like "HOLY F*CK THERE'S A FLY IN MY SOUP" and when you say "but sir, that's a sandwich, not soup" I will say "AH, SO YOU CAN'T EVEN BRING ME WHAT I ORDERED?!" and you'll say "but sir, you did not order soup" to which I will retort "AH, SO YOU DON'T EVEN LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS?! LEMME TALK TO YOUR MANAGER RIGHT NOW!!"

No, see, they understand that my paycheck is what I deserve. They pay their regular required fees for my services. I don't give them poor customer service for doing my job because my job, like that of the food industry, requires customer service. I do my job, I get my paycheck, and they pay the require fees for said services. I don't bitch when they don't tip me.

Don't try to corner me and put your bullsh*t words in my mouth. AT's been through this before in a long, long, LONG thread.

If I didn't like what my employer pays me, I'd go get a second job or a different job. I wouldn't treat my customers like sh*t because of it and expect them to make up the difference that my cheap ass employer refuses to pay.

Only reason why servers expect it is becuase it has become socially unacceptable to not give a tip. You can't blame the servers for this.

LMAO...I am cheap, but im not a prude. I tip based on service, not on society and their thoughts. If I get sh!tty service, you get a sh!tty tip...plain and simple.

I blame the federal government for allowing such a grossly low minimum wage in the food industry. I blame state government in ~44 states for not instituting laws to raise minimum wage in the food industry.

Luckily, Oregon is one of those ~6 or so states that have laws preventing different minimum wages. Servers make at least the minimum wage that everyone else makes for any other job. Guess what? The food's still the same price. Service is better.

I blame employers for taking advantage of their employees by paying them such ridiculously low wages. I blame employees for choosing to take a job that pays so little when they are not living within their means, then bitching about it and taking it out on the customer.

I do *not* accept the idea that it's socially unacceptable not to tip. Do your job. Your job is providing customer service. Do your job and you get a paycheck. Go above and beyond "customer service" and you'll get a tip from me. :)
