I never ran 64 bit before last week. Running W7 32 on my older desktop, I was used to hotfixes once in a while post SP1.

But now, I am getting patches all the time! Only just now, I was sent another one which just installed!

Am I imagining this? The ginormous number of them?

Cause I don think so. If not, does it mean 64 is more vulnerable than 32????

Are you sure it's not the same patches being repeated. Microsoft has had an issue with this recently. There is not much, if any, difference in the number of patches for 64 vs. 32bit operating systems of the same version. Patches released typically cover most versions of Windows currently being supported.

Wow, that's so INTERESTING! I looked at my patch history (this system has only been up for like a week), and no, I think no repeating patches.

But what you posted, made me remember I havent been on my desktop running 32 for days......so I should get on it and see if I then get a bazillion new patches! Cept, hard to imagine I will.

I should not go there, cause a while back, I decided not to go Apple, only cause I like to fiddle with/upgrade, customize my systems, and nobody can fiddle with Apple anything (tho some would say there is no need to)....

....but reminds me yet again, all the infinite patches leading to infinite SPs.....nobody who goes Apple deals with that stuff we who run Windows have come to feel is just normal.:colbert:

EDIT: Here is the one I just got (din require a reboot, and it said "important"):
Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems (KB973688)

Installation date: ‎9/‎18/‎2013 8:17 PM

Did everyone here running 64 get that one just now????? I see the notification in my systray and just accept everything, I have not clue what any of it is.

Actually, maybe people lucky enough to live in civilized, progressive, sane Canada are considered just too good for all these patches!:p:whiste:

On a more serious note.....I had work to do, so did not go into my 32 bit system, but it struck me, that maybe, just cause I only started setting up this system last week, right off got hundreds of patches....maybe MS just has not caught up with all I need.

If that is true, and it felt logical when it presented....that would explain this DELUGE from Bill & Melinda to my new/used system!!!
