if i am not mistaken, it takes connections and resources that only an established corporation can have in order to research and find a company overseas that is going get them the most profit.

so if the patents on iphones were repealed, for example, people would practically be building them, packing them, and shipping them out of their garage.

and then the u.s. govt keeps inflating its currency and having china hold its debt while the former pays the latter interest and i would have to say that propped up china's manufacturing quite a bit too.

finally, i want those who read this to know that i realize that i didnt think this out much at all, so maybe this post was a brainfart like the other 99% of my unoriginal posts are.

For sure, it's only the patent that holds me back from building an iPhone 5 in my garage.

I'm all for short timespan patents in technology (say five years) but that's idiotic.

I will confirm this as a "brain fart", but you might want to get your brain checked if this represents 99.9% of your thought patterns.

Yea, its not 'patents' that keep other companies from building iPhones, its trademarks. Two completely different worlds.

Ending patents would destroy businesses/manufacturing.
and then new firms would replace the old ones that failed because the latter relied on ip too much.
For sure, it's only the patent that holds me back from building an iPhone 5 in my garage.
well, that's not the only thing but i think it wouldnt increase unemployment at least not long term.

that's definitely not a sufficient reduction if done alone. meaningful patent reduction would be whatever is shorter between 5 years and when 10% of R&D costs are regained. any meaningful copyright reduction would be a:
5 years

and b: only large corporations (defined as having $2.5 bn or more in revenue over the past calendar year and at least 10 years old or something like that) can be sued or at least damages paid by small businesses would not have to pay as much in fines or damages. so the DMCA would be effectively repealed as would parts of trade treaties.

it is also kind ignorant of some people to complain about the estate tax being reduced while also thinking that people should hold copyrights for life even after theyre dead.

that said, i want patent reduction but not patent reform... i dont want any of the State's features to be reformed, made more efficient, or any bullshit like that i want the State abolished and never reformed.

they're both intellectual property. trademarks should be abolished because there are too many people who could be named jack thompson. jack thompson tried to trademark his name or something like that and people like him are really the only people who are guaranteed to lose nothing and gain everything from trademarks... violating them often cant be helped because there are too many ways to do so.

You need to take some economics courses. If a business cant protect their investment in the research via patents and trademarks, they will not make the investments, and the advancements stop.

Who is going to put the R&D into something they know can just be copied and reproduced cheaper than anything?

No offense but this really didn't need to be said. It was kind of obvious. :colbert::p

No it wont. American labor cannot compete against Chinese labor for pennies on the dollar, and remember no pesky pollution regulations, OSHA worker safety regulations and child labor laws to deal with etc.

All these things have costs, moving work to China significantly lowers the cost of production and there is no way the US can compete at those levels.

So what leads to intolerant assholes such as yourself, the siege, and jimzz?

I am tolerant of everyone, that doesn't mean someone isn't a complete asshole troll, I am just calling a spade a spade. I am an asshole too, I just choose to try and limit my threads as to not showcase it.

That's because patents are protecting companies from China.

Except the dumbfucks move production over there because they don't want to pay an American and somehow magically some of their product ends up going out the backdoor with the manufacturing knowledge,

then they cry boohoo to the taxpayer funded American government about the injustice of it all and want them to do something about.
