I was just thinking due to that other post about Unreal 2... didn't you find the ending to this game extremely depressing? Like really.. WHY would you need to end a game on that kind of a sad note. Ouch. The ONLY reason I played through it was because I was hoping for a cool ending.. but no.. I got this depressing drama of an ending.. man.. truly was a HORRIBLE game :p

I thought the ending was both hollow and strange.

I mean at the end of the day, what was the real reason that the crew tried to keep the artifacts aways from your commander? Surely they didn't expect to survive against a flagship? Also he got them in end anyway. It was like dying without a cause, more like suicide than anything else.

I thought it was a great, but yes depressing ending. As in movies, a happy ending is not always the best.

For it to be depressing that would imply that you actually cared about what happened to the characters. I know I didnt. I was only disappointed in never getting to see Aidas melons.

I didn't think it was too bad. Perhaps I've been out of the FPS loop too long, but the visuals kept me intersted enough to play through the game. But hey, at the end of Unreal I you're stranded in a drifting emergency pod, not much difference, is there?

Yeah the only thing that kept me playing it was the graphics. I had high hopes for this game before it was released but it just didn't deliver.

I liked the game, and it's nice to have a different type of ending (bad one)

Don't understand why so many people don't like the game

IMO, Unreal2 was a good game, but i wasnt expecting much from it anyway. Most people who dont like it had high hopes for it, and so when it was released, they were dissapointed. The same will happen with HL2, practically everyone here will have set their expectations too high for it, so when it is released, even if it is good, then there will be alot of people dissapointed with it.
The ending for Unreal2 was crap though.

Well the original had the same ending (ie drifting in space) but it worked there because it left you hanging and because you knew that an expansion pack was on the way. With the second one that kind of ending just didn't work.

I felt the same way, by the time they bit it, I was still waiting for them to do something that I cared about.
