I liked the original series, but I thought the Bean series was pretty lazy, cliche, and it's definitely when his Mormon propaganda stopped being subtle and started beating you over the head.

Ender's Shadow is considered to be better than Ender's Game by many.

I didn't read into any of the stories as Mormon propaganda; it sounds like you just have it out for this guy because the two of you don't share the same beliefs.

What from the Bean series did you consider Mormon propaganda? Maybe I just missed it because I don’t know shit about Mormon beliefs. I enjoyed the 2nd series as much as the first, actually thought bean was a better character.

who are these "many" and what drugs are they on?

ignoring his outside-of-books activities (eg: encouraging the armed overthrow of the government if they legalize gay marriage), he lost me when he started embracing gay conversion in his books and the idea that it's impossible to be happy without having biological children, which the Ender's Shadow series brought us. and that's not even touching just the absurd ridiculousness that is the entire Bean character.

Your knowledge of his outside-of-book activities are ruining your experience reading his books. I could care less about who he is as a person; his books are wonderful to read though.

And Bean is an AMAZING character.

it's not, though.

I read the Bean series before I had any inclination of OSC's extracurricular editorial writing activities... I pretty clearly remember putting it back on the shelf and never reading another OSC book again when all the characters in his book (including atheist Bean) suddenly morphed into good little Mormons who wanted nothing out of life but to make babies (see: Petra, who goes from being a strong character in Ender's Game to being a weak girl in need of a strong protector/baby daddy in the Shadow series)

Ender's Shadow did introduce a gay character, but his only real purpose was to talk about how meaningless all his life and scientific accomplishments were because he never made babies.
