The point isn't that people can't write viruses, the point is they won't spread like the do now. Instead of every user for him or herself, the protection will just exist on the network as a whole. It will require a large investment by someone, but whoever does it will get huge publicity so I can't imagine we'll have trouble getting the support. One person at IBM said it was "promising", so we could see this happen within 5-10 years.
