End pieces in loaves of bread...

For some reason I just think the end pieces are weird. I usually just grab 2 middle pieces and then when it comes to the last possible minute I have the 2 end pieces. Just dont like them.

The heels of the bread are the best part...especially if the bread has an extra crunchy crust.

if it's sandwich bread, I just toss it. If it's garlic bread, I'll eat the end pieces.

I use them to protect the middle pieces from the harsh environment. Let the end piece get old and stale while the middle pieces stay edible. Other than that, I hate them in any shape or form. Even worse is with hard/crusty bread. I hate the hard crust and end pieces have even more of it.

Yes, end pieces help keep the moiture in the loaf and keep it fresher longer. the end pieces toasted aren't much different than any other piece toasted. It's wasteful to throw it away.

i usually use the end pieces for eating hot dogs. They dont crack like the middle pieces. This is assuming i had ran out of hot dog buns.
