The change from mainstream to extended support means Microsoft won't do free support for Windows 7 as of today. Even those with licences paid up, or signed up to licensing programs, will now be charged for Windows 7 support according to Microsoft's support lifecycle policy. Nor will Redmond consider or implement any new features for Windows 7.😱:'🙂thumbsdown:

it is still supported as in security fixes are free for all. What has changed is - no new features - different support when you need help with something.

What just ended was Microsoft Mainstream Support. Extended Support for Win 7 will continue until January 14, 2020. Not to worry.

I'll never understand why people get so miffed about Microsoft only supporting an OS for...well, over 10 years. I mean, Apple drops support on old OS versions super fast, and many Linux distros don't even HAVE support.
