since when is a consumer level ssd $100 EXTRA over a consumer HDD?

Last I checked an ssd with enough space for desktop "monkey" use in a business is like $80 or lower, and a basic HD is $50 or more.

That does not add up to $100 EXTRA or even anywhere close.

When you try to order it as an hard drive upgrade to a base PC configuration from Dell. Or Apple. Or Lenovo. Or basically any other greedy PC vendor.

Most businesses don't build their own PC's for their employees!

Heh. Is your workplace ponying up the extra $100 for an SSD? Mine certainly isn't.

You are correct of course.

But back on topic, Intel reminds me a lot of general motors in the US before their restructuring. Way too many models, and a confusing mess for the consumer. I am not very creative in thinking up names, but this is what they should do IMO.

Intel's main customers are OEMs - they can deal with it.
