OS: Windows XP

Awhile back a whole folder became encrypted on my computer. This folder contained many picstures of the family and now i can't access them or decrypt them. I tried the normal way under advanced settings but it says my computer is disabled for encryption, that means decryption too. I have installed all the updates, and it is free of any virus. I really don't want to loose those pics. I was on the phone with Microsoft for 3 hrs, and they basically said they don't know what to do. They also stated that this was only the second time anything like this has happened. The first was a major company and they couldn't get their files back, but i have never really trusted Microsoft support staff.

i just need to decrypt the pictures or enable encryption on my computer.

If there is anybody here that could help meout i would greatly appreciate it.

Was the folder previously on a different computer than it is now? If so, where is that computer now?

Is the drive NTFS? Is the OS XP Pro? Those are the only requirements for EFS to be enabled. There is nothing to 'turn on'.
