Basically our friends at RIAA/MIAA are trying to pull another rabbit out of the hat. Namely making CD's that are impossible to rip into MP3's. You can read about it HERE.

I mean, who do these people think they're kidding anyway. This encryption won't last a week.
Now how long after DVDs did it take programs like DeCSS to surface anyway??
Not to mention a more brute force way of defeating this would just be to take the line output on any Discman and run it into the input of your soundcard, record a .wav and rip it from there. (BTW: Anyone who would actually take the time or have the motivation to do this is in serious need of a GF/BF/Wife/Husband/Dog/Chicken/well...you get the point!!)

This kind of sh!t always makes me laugh. :D It reminds me of the days of the Satellite TV wars back in the '80's. People who choose to are still getting it free. Even with the new digital satellites.

Just another futile attempt by Cooperate America to take away your freedom to do what you want with the media you own.:|:|:|

IMO.. I think MP3's suck anyway.:disgust: (They sound worse than two goats bleating under water!!) I just got a kick out of this. What a waste of time and money. But hey, if it makes these guys happy let 'em go for it:D:D:D..

JR..

Just great. Another useless feature added to a CD to inflate prices. And guess what...in ten days some Slavik 16 year old will have broken this "encryption".

Well, yes a "fix" that will allow computers to play copy-protected audio CD's will come along quickly, but as I said when I posted the MSNBC story earlier tonight it will still be a pain in the arse for a lot of people who use computers but don't know the first thing about where to get a program that would bypass the copy-protection. Damn it, I want to be able to buy a CD then play it in my ThinkPad when I travel or when I'm working on a paper in the campus park. Stupid RIAA.
