ok guys tryed a few forums with this problem lets give u a try

when trying to encode a AVI file to VCD with any and i mean any program out there, after say 10 mins maybe shorter / longer it hard locks the computer and i have to hold in the power button for the 4 secs and then power up again to get it running but this happens no matter what i do i have the latest patches 4 in 1 drivers some reg file thing from MS "largepage something" SP2 enough ram and CPU, storage space, ETC and still it happens any ideas ?????????

Do you have the dx8dba installed, also problems like these are related to heat, is your case well ventilated. when doing a vcd it's encoding and putting your cpu under load and will increase the temps a few degrees and in some cases just enough to overheat and lock up. Try running RC5 or something to see if it also locks after 10 min.
