Laptop is encoding a 5Gb raw avi to an mpg for vcd.
It has been on for 3hr30m36s and counting. 2hr49m6s to go. DAYUUUUUUUUUM.
Laptop is:
PIII 850
384mb Ram
20Gb hd.
Would use my pc but I didn't have the space as I had other raw avi's on it. Wonder how fast it would be.
So can you guys give me some *rough* times for your encodes. Using Primere and the Cleaner EZ to do it.
I have been reading and learning stuff at this site:
http://www.dvdrhelp.com
So what other good sites do you guys go to?
Also a question for you guys.
When I had the raw avi and when I encoded it to wmz at any bitrate either high or low it had lines across the movie. When movement was. Why is this happening and how can I fix this so it doesn't show up like so. I read on the webstie that it has something to do with the interlacing lines. The odd and even ones. So how do I fix it. Didn't seem to give me a fix. Just that I could choose either with a program to get better results. But surely there is actually a way to get rid of this?
Also how do I get Preimere to use divx to encode a file after the edits? Or do I have to use VirtualDub or something like TNMPG (how ever it goes)?
Thanks.

ps pc is
P4 2.4 OC 2.7
512mb (256x2) Corsair 3200LL
Asus deluxe granite bay mobo
GF4Ti4200 Asus VIVO 128mb
Anothe question. The graphics card doesn't play a role in the encoding times right?
You can buy some capture cards that says it does *real time* stuff. So do these help with encode times or only the transisitons or what not?
I am a noob so bear with me.
