HELLO,
FOR THE PAST WEEK OR SO I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING AND SEARCHING FOR AN ANSWER ABOUT HOW TO ENABLE TRIM WITH RAID 0 ON AN AMD DRIVER.(amd option rom 2011) THERE HAS TO BE AWAY TO TRICK WINDOWS INTO THINKING THAT THIS ARRAY IS SOLID STATE..??.. I JUST CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE. I WAS ALSO WONDERING IF THERE WAS A WAY TO USE INTEL'S DRIVERS ON AN AMD SETUP??? AND IF THIS IS POSSIBLE THEN I KNOW IT WOULD BE A LOT EASIER TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ENABLE TRIM. BUT I HONESTLY WOULD JUST RATHER STAY WITH THE AMD DRIVERS AND KEEP IT COPACETIC. ANY ADVICE???

I AM RUNNING: AMD FX 9590 BLACK EDITION, ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA Z MOTHERBOARD, 4X SAMSUNG 850 PRO 256GB(3 IN RAID AND 1 IN RAPID MODE FOR OS),SEAGATE 1TB 7200 RPM, 16GB GSKILL TRIDENT X 2400MHZ, 3X RADEON R9 290, KOOLANCE CUSTOM WATER COOLING LOOP, 1X PHILLIPS 42" 1080P HDTV, 1X PHILLIPS 32" 1080P HDTV.

If AMD doesn't support it, you probably don't get TRIM on the RAID.

Intel controllers only come with Intel motherboards, so no, you can't do that, at least not without an upgrade/sidegrade to an i7.

Now if i dont get automatic trim... Then does anyone know if there is a program out there that can force trim a ssd raid setup? Like one that i can schedule to run at night or something like that? I tried doing it through windows disk optimization and it doesn't see the array as solid state and wants to defrag it. HMMMMM Im getting highly upset with all of this. i wish i would've just got one samsung 850 pro 1tb and put it in rapid mode...

Hello all...
I found a temporary fix to my lack of trim capabilities... Raxco's "PerfestDisk, Profesional". I've been looking and looking and i finally found a software that will do it. You have to manually set the parameters in the "drive preferences" tab. but who cares; it's trimming my crazy-fast triple 850pro raid 0 array when I'm idle!!!! Hope someone else benefits from this also... It has a free 30 day trial on Raxco's website, then its only 29.99/39.99 depending on version preference.

How do you know TRIM is working when your SSD's are a Member of an RAID Array?

I don't know if TRIMcheck.exe is capable of verifying that TRIM is working on SSD's that are Members of an Array and in Raid Mode and NOT in AHCI Mode when NOT a member (Single Identity in AHCI Mode) of an Array when the MB SATA Controller is set in RAID Mode.

The reason is that I'm cautioning you as you use the term "Trimming" where the term is "TRIM".

Have you read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trim_%28computing%29

Usually we have to "RESET" SSD's that are a Member of a Raid Array and Dump a Backup Image of our OS's or DATA onto SSD's that are Members of a RAID Array set in RAID Mode - NOT AHCI Mode as a single entity on a SATA RAID Controller and not a Member of an Array.

Samsung's Magician won't even work when their SSD's are mounted on a Sata Raid Controller as a None RAID Member in AHCI Mode.

If you can get TRIM to work on SSD's which are Members of a RAID Array - Irregardless of the MB ChipSet (Intel or AMD) - Let me know.

Your looking for something that doesn't exist today. I may be wrong but convince differently ;o)

You can do it automaticly by running the TrimCheck Tool or manually by using an Hex Editor (look >here<).
I don't know if TRIMcheck.exe is capable of verifying that TRIM is working on SSD's that are Members of an Array
It is capable to detect TRIM activity within a RAID0 array. I have verified it very often.

The TRIM command definitively passes through the Intel RAID Controller into a RAID0 array (other RAID arrays are not supported).
Preconditions:
  1. Usage of an Intel RST driver v11.x.x.xxxx or higher
  2. Presence of a TRIM supporting Intel RAID ROM/EFI RAID module within the BIOS
For details you may look >here<.

OK SSD's in RAID-0 Array with the MB SATA Controller Enabled in RAID Mode, for example - I believe you for Intel MB's, but the OP has an AMD MB.

Samsung Magician Rapid Storage is CRAP considering Intel MB's can load IRST - Do AMD MB's have an equivalent Rapid Storage driver? Samsung Software don't support any Rapid Storage or TRIM on their SSD's when mounted on a SATA RAID Controller as Member of an Array.

Lot's of Patent CRAP going on here so how can the OP be sure Raxco PerfectDisk enables RST and preform TRIM on RAID-0 Samsung SSD's AMD MB's other then you say TRIMcheck.EXE will span 2 or more SSD's in a RAID Array to ensure TRIM is working.

I answered your question.
My answer to the OP question would have been: AMD's RAID drivers don't let the TRIM command pass through the AMD RAID Controller into a RAID0 array.

We are saying the same thing - But I don't believe the OP has a solution with this 3rd Party Raxco PerfectDisk SSD RST TRIM Optimizing Software and should be CAUTIOUS and question the results of trimcheck.exe when testing TRIM on SSD's which are a member of an Array. It's not as if you can place Trimcheck.exe on a specific SSD when the SSD is an Array Member.

For the enthusiasts, who feels competent to build, load and program their own platform thus bypassing Cooperate Systems are targeting themselves to RELOAD the way we choose components and software ;o)

Just too much Cooperate, Patent, Commercial, Advertizing an to say the least Expensive Crap to weed throw to suit me. You can't trust any of it.

Seems, due to my Dyslexia, Broken Fingers and Poor Eye Sight, I spend too much time Editing and teaching my Students to THINK.

On top of it all I got DRAFT Disease so don't bother bugging me because I won't remember it tomorrow - LOL

OK sorry it's been awhile guys. TRIMcheck is saying that trim is NOT working. I knew this was going to happen, but I had to try this route anyways. I don't think trimcheck can span raid 0 array like Z15cam said. I am however, a lot more comfortable knowing that a program (be it 3rd party or not) is "ssd optimizing" my array.

Now whether it's doing anything or not is questionable. I know that there are a lot of options on perfect disk that are very good for ssd's. I have done quite a few things to my computer to optimize for ssd's as well. So, does anyone know of another, possibly more definitive way to check for TRIM status??

So to correct myself: Perfect disk is "optimizing" my ssd drives, and hopefully 'trimming' in the process. I use the term "trimming" loosely here. I would hate to get a link to wiki again.... lol... wow
