Enabling Pipelines on a 7800GT

So, I tried overclock my 7800GT from 400/1000 to 464/1110 and I noticed quite the extra performance ( I got an extra 300 3dMarks). Now I'm wondering about enabling the Pixel pipelines. Would you guys recommend doing so? I've downloaded RivaTune, and I can jump from 20x/7x to 24x/8x (pixel/vert.) My questions is, can this be done, and is this reasonable? Would this provide enough performance boost? I OC'ed my card to 470/1.13 ran 3d mark and noticed I was running my card at 56 C. Currently I'm using a Sonata 2 case with 3 fans (1 120 mm, 1 92 mm, 1 80mm). I don't know much about tweaking this stuff too much, which is why I'm asking you guys.

The 7800GT's are not unlockable. And besides, just OCing to about 500 on the core will easily equal the performance of a GTX.

yay i'm thinking about doing the same thing! but i'll prolly wait a bit for the 7800gt price's to drop. i play all my games at 16x12 and in cod2, i only get a min of ~20fps. ::sigh::

WTH! I have a VF700 on my 7800GT and I hit 70C while loading using RTHDRIBL....as soon as I pause rthdribl, my temp drops to 60, unpause a second later and the temp jumps to 70C again. This is really wierd...I don't get it. I hit 70C whether my clocks are 445/1070 or 480/1200...this just a driver/bios/hardware problem?

The case I use is a P180, WELL ventilated....room temp is around 25C.

I think it is just the sensor that is very sensitive.

keidanny How are you running 1350mhz ram? Thats insane...

But is my GPU really hitting 70C? I find that hard to believe when everyone else is hitting 55C with theirs at the same speeds as mine.

Hmm, what is the VF700? A cooler I assume, are you sure it is installed correctly?
I just ran rthdribl and the temp spikes are normal. Granted my load temps are only 37degrees C, that temperature is immediately reached. There isn't any gradual warm-up effect.

Maybe you should recheck if the vf700 is making good contact with the gpu. I know it usually does, I'm using one myself, but maybe you put too much thermal paste in there? Also, are you using the low speed or the high speed fan setting?
