Hi guys,
I recently read the Ace's Hardware posting on how enabling DMA on the DVD drive enhances performance a LOT when using software decoding. The question I have is this: A while ago, I tried enabling DMA on a Plextor burner I had and then restarted the computer only to finded that upon loading up Windows Explorer after the computer had restarted, the Plextor burner didn't show up as a drive at all! Because there was no drive showing up anymore, I couldn't "disable" DMA because the drive didn't show up under Device Manager anymore.
Since I didn't know how to get it back, I ended up having to reinstall windows. (Is there a way to get it back?) So I'm kind of reluctant to enable DMA only because I don't know how to rewind back to where I started in case anything goes wrong...
any suggestions?
