Ok, I feel stupid. In Win98SE, I enable DMA for a Toshiba 1402 DVD dirve. It says to restart. I do, and when I check again, its been disabled....WTF?? How do I force DMA? Do I have to check more then one setting to get DMA to stay? I'm doing this because I have choppy DVD playback and I think this is why. Also, how do you enable DMA on Win 2k....I cant find the setting anywhere....

Thanks!

You go to the device manager (control panel/system, hardware tab), then go to the IDE channel you want, right click, and go to properties. Click the advanced settings tab, and it will let you select DMA or PIO for each device on the chain.

EDIT: This is for Win2k

with win98,if windows allows a device to use DMA then the setting will stick after reboot. not aware of any changes to force DMA!
