Enabling Big LBA in XP for Large HDD

On my second computer, which seems to have finally stabilized (I know I just jinxed it :)) I have a WD 160 GB Hard Drive. The computer of course recognizes it as 137GB which is the limit without 48 bit support for large drives. I have SP1, and have update the Atapi drive per Microsoft KNowledgebase. I have added the registry value that enbales big LBA, but when I restart it still does not recognize the full size. This is the only hdd in the computer. When I first set it up I used the Western Digital Data Lifeguard tools which are supposed to make this all work.

Mobo - Asus A7v133-C Bios 1009 - According to Asus website the board with bios 1008 or above supports the larger drive.

Win XP w/ SP1 and all other critical updates as well as most recommended updates.

WD 160GB HD

Any ideas would be appreciated. I suppose I should just be happy that it is not crashing every five minutes. But, I want everything I can get out of it. :)

I will check that out when I get home. I know the board supports it, but I assumed it would be enabled.

When in Win XP it shows two portions of the drive. The first portion being the 137GB portion as C Drive. The second part is listed as unallocated space and is a little over 20GB. Would this indicate that it is enabled on the board since Windows can see it or does that not matter.

If I chose to, could I just right click on the unallocated space and create a seperate partition out of that or will it be slow/unstable, etc. I thought the 20GB might be a good place to store a good image of my c:Drive for later recovery.

Lastly, when doing the registry changes do capital or lowercased letters make a difference or just make it easier to see?
