Enabling AHCI and Installing WinXP??

Hey all,
Well I have to do a fresh install of WinXP 32. My issue is that I am currently set in the BIOS for my hardrives as AHCI for the SATA drives that I have.. not IDE mode. It is my understanding that when I start installing Windows after a format, it will not find my hardrive unless I have some sort of driver if BIOS is set to AHCI.

I have the CD that came with my Asus P5K-E WiFi mobo... and also have the updated Intel drivers. However I DO NOT have a floppy drive. Do I have to press F6 during the installation process and can I direct it to a USB KEy I have? I also have 2 DVD-R drives in my system. If I cannot use the USB key method, can I direct it to the second DVD-R drive which i will place the driver disk?

Last question... the newer version of XP which has the integrated SP3 in it.. would it by chance already have drivers in there for AHCI?

Thanks!

To your last question, nope.

To your first question, nope. Windows XP installer will only ever look for a floppy. You cannot direct it anywhere else. If you don't have a floppy, your only other course of action is to use nLite to slipstream the drivers directly into the install disk.

Short of that...see if you can borrow a floppy drive from a friend.

WOW!! Thank you for that reply... much appreciated. I went to nLite and in the forums found that there is an actual example for JUST that thing. Again, thank you.
