enabling A3D in Q3A causes MX300 to crash

MX300, w/ Aureal ref. drivers 2041.

Whenever I enable a3d in q3a, the computer will (eventually) crash. If a3d is disabled, there's no problem.

I thought it might be the overclocked PCI bus, so I set it back to normal, but the problem persists.

Any ideas?

Setup is:

PIII 550e @770
Tyan Trinity 400 s1854 (via 133A)
128mb cas 3 PC1333
WD 7200rpm 13 Gb HDD
GF2 GTS
MX300 w/ 2041 Aureal ref drivers
Quad speakers w/sub
Windows Me

Q3A settings:
117 patch, running Rocket Arena 3
Sound quality to High
A3d enabled

A3D driver settings:
quad speakers

Not sure what you mean by sound blaster emulation. There's nothing in the drivers to that effect.

I can usually play for 5-10 minutes before it crashes, although sometimes it crashes right away. Disabling A3D in q3a fully resolves the crash problem. When it crashes, too, it's a complete system freeze: ctrl-alt-del does not bring up task manager, etc.
