Enabled video camera functionality on my RAZR, now I need to restore it... Can I? How?

My family has three RAZR V3 phones through Cingular. These all shipped with the video camera functionality disabled. All three now have problems.

Since the beginning, mine has had a "buckled keypad" as a Cingular person described it so long ago. It took a few weeks of use to realize that it was only my RAZR that grabbed and ripped hairs off my face like a dull razor (!), so it was not normal for the thin metallic keypad as I had assumed. Now that my mother's phone has completely died and my brother's routinely gets a "tinny echo that comes and goes affect rings, menu sounds and even voice conversation, I may as well get the RMA over with.

I was the only one ballsey/ballzie/whatever enough to do whatever it is I did to enable video playback (on mine)... but it was almost a year ago, so I don't remember if I just updated the "flex" or the full firmware. I'm back to clueless step one. My brother and mother's are still "original" so can I make a backup of those? What do I need to download?

Only *A* RAZR? OIC, you're implying that it's not surprising with sarcasm. Well played. 😉 Well, three out of three aint too bad, but I have more problems too (particle buildup under the screen from the hinge that has gotten too loose, part that the battery door clips to has gotten loose though the door is fine, the typical motorola BT bugs that have made me handle and drop my phone more than I would WITHOUT a wireless headset, etc).

My brother was on the phone with them all night. You can't imagine how anal they are. The entire conversation was drawn out in an attempt to get him to say we dropped them or something. They ignored us or directly contradicted us when we called these "defects" and consistantly calling it "damage." They tried to force us to pay damage fees even after he insisted that they were not damaged. They also "require" us to drive out of state to a service center (we refused again and again and FINALLY got an address). This is UNHEARD OF. This is like no typical RMA process.

Now I'm worried that I will have to check the internal water sensor on my mom's phone. We saw condensation inside (humidity + air conditioning?) but it was never submerged or wet and the battery-cap sensor is 100% flawless. Something tells me that with even a scratch they will chalk up anything else to the "event" that scratched it. These guys are shady.

Seems like everybody I know with this phone has been through 1 or 2 of them. Why not just take the phones to the store? If they need to go to a service center the store can ship them off and give you a brand new phone instead. I seriously doubt they will check the firmware but dirt and normal wear and tear will not qualify for RMA.
