Enabled LACP on my ReadyNas Ultra 4 Plus and almost doubled my write speed

I have a NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus NAS (RNDP400U) which normally I get around 70 MB/s write but yesterday I hooked it up to my HP 1800-24G managed gigabit switch which my desktop is connected to using all of it's 3 gigabit Intel ethernet ports setup in a link aggregation setup.

Copying from my SSD to the ReadyNAS with 4x 1TB running in X-RAID2 (expandable RAID 5) I was pushing just over 120 MB/s when transferring 250GB of data. If I get a chance I'll do some actual speed tests with it.

NETGEAR has disabled the ability to use both ethernet ports on their non-pro gear. But this add on worked for getting my Ultra working:

Seems odd that you couldn't hit those speeds with one nic active. You should be able to see 120MB/s+ on a single gig nic.

Generally LACP is only going to increase total available throughput for all clients, meaning you would see better throughput when there are multiple connections that can be load balanced across the two interfaces.

Maxing out a your nic speeds at home always feel good though. Next you will be thinking about 10gbe!

120MB/s is 1 gigabit connection. 3gb would get you about 375MB/s theoretical. I doubt that LACP had much if anything to do with that. Unless there is some sort of bus contention in the unit itself.

Oh crap. Will have to do some more testing. Damn it. I was ecstatic about getting it running
