I set up Guest account because it blocks my brother from installing things and messing with xp customization. One time he changed something, and I knew it was simple but its a lot of poking around to undo what he did. I also heard that if you run it in Guest, you don't get spyware or viruses as much, and if you do you just disable and enble the account.

Well, its working, but I accidently click on "Keep my files private" (This is what I'm talking about, what my brother does). When I was asked to give the administator's pw. Ever since I haven't been able to get the files that he downloaded on the computer and my torrent files. When I go into sharing folder and options, the checkbox is grey out. I can hope onto Admin and enable that folder to be shared, but when I log in Guest again it doesn't show its shared. More awful now, I have Vista 64 installed, and I can't even get Admin share folder to show up on the Vista machine. Could someone help me set up ? And if possible, could someone recommend a software that locks desktop settings and installation, but it doesn't erase things that are downloaded to the computer ? Thanks.

The whole spyware thing is a myth. You are not any more portected with him as a gust then if he had full rights. I suggest you delete his account and reset it up. But if you keep him restricted he won't be able to access anything other then his folders.

Low-rights user accounts are a very substantial obstacle to a wide selection of malware, so I would make him a Standard User on Vista. He would not be able to install software unless it could install to his personal profile. If it's Vista Ultimate or Vista Business, you can add a Software Restriction Policy to lock it down even further.

Are you having him use the guest account or did you create an acount for him whith his own password and limited rights? If its just the Guest account he won't have any network privlages. He needs a named account with password. Even with limited rights network access is availible.

Yeah, make him a Limited user on XP then. And try out Software Restriction Policy too, if you have XP Pro or XP Media Center Edition. The same links I mentioned before also apply to WinXP.
