You updated it in what way, do you mean that you took it through Windows Update? Or that you installed new hardware? Or are you saying that HT was turned off and you've turned it on and that this is the "update" that makes it not boot anymore?

Also, what brand and model of computer is it, or what are its detailed specs?

i installed a new p4p800-e , hyperthreadin is enabled in the bios but it seems windows only detects or at least shows 1 processor in task manager.

if i goto device manager and look under processors i show 2 p4 3ghz

intel utility says cpu and chipset pass but fails after that says bios even though bios enabled

HT is enabled if you seek to instances of your processor in device manager.

To see two instances of your CPU in task manager, look in task manager> performance> view> CPU history and select one graph per CPU.

If HT was not enabled before you installed Windows, you must reinstall windows after you enable HT. There is no way that you can turn on HT within Windows.

1) Install the latest Intel .INF for the i865PE chipset from here, and reboot.

2) Delete/uninstall both instances of the CPU from Device Manager, reboot, see what happens 🙂

1) What motherboard did it have before

2) Did you change out anything besides the motherboard?

3) Does your mom actually need Hyperthreading for something 😉

Like was said before, you should reinstall Windows to get the full support of HT. You just can't turn it on and it will be enabled. It is like if I was to add a second CPU to my computer. Windows would not take full advantage of it unless I was to reinstall Windows.

Ah, too bad, that looked like it might work. You have your bios set to refresh ACPI? You may be due for a re-install 🙁
