Enabaling Cool and Quiet on a MSI RS480M2-IL

I have an MSI RS480M2-IL mobo, an Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester, and CoolJag heatsink and fan. How do I enable Cool and Quiet? Thanks.
 
You will need to get into the system BIOS to change that. Reboot your computer and press the DEL (delete) key after initial POST. Once in the BIOS, go to the menu called Power Management Setup. You should see an option for AMD Cool 'n' Quiet somewhere near the bottom. You can set it to AUTO, or Disable......you want to choose AUTO. That should do it.


Edit: By the way, you can find this information in the manual that came with your motherboard. Section 3-2 has instructions for how to get into BIOS, and section 3-20 will explain AMD C&Q.
 
Thanks. It was alreay enabled. I've never seen or heard the heatsink fan slow down so I wonderd if it was on.
 
Right click on my computer. Windows will report your CPU running at a slower speed.

I have a 3000+ (1.8 Ghz) and it runs at 994 Mhz.

In the general tab (Windows 2000 pro)? The only thing it says is that I have a 3000+.
 
Right click on your desktop.

Go to screen saver tab, click on the power button, and under power schemes make sure it is on Minimal Power Management.

Click ok, then it should be active.

Download the AMD dashboard from previous link to AMD if you are still unsure.

On dashboard I have 1.100 cpu voltage, 56% cpu speed, and power savings is one tick short of max. The graph at the bottom fluctuates when I open a program, so I guess it's working.
