Never used edonkey for it is a bit too gay, too much hashing just to indentify your files. it take me more time to share filez then to leech them. it sucks, DC++ takes only 1 sec for 150GB you want to share. What's the point of hashing?! some call it the beauty of it but it's like screwing with each file you got from 0 bytes to 700mb if you filez are each 700mb which is imo, is very time consuming and annoying. I just deleted that lame a$$ prog off my hd for good and never to be used again. I can't share much, only 1-2gb, anymore I just have to sit there for hours looking at the harddrive litting up with activity. so for 700mb expect 5-6 min gay hashing, for 7gb of data, expect 1 hour before your hd is free to do other task.

hmm only takes a few seconds for me to hash on my 80gb hdd... which is sharing about 50gig at the moment (haven't had a chance to burn all my stuff this week yet).

and that is the beauty of hashing... it creates a temporary 700mb file, and you're queued up on everybody's computer that has that file. Whenever there is an opening, it sends a chunk of the file to you. This way you can receive incoming chunks from multiple people simultaneously. I reach 100kb/s+ because there's 15+ people sending me chunks of the same file. Somebody with the beginning of the file will send me whatever he has... and then somebody with another part of the file near the end sends me whatever he has, etc.

From my experience i think edonkey blows. Emule is the more effective client. Considering it's the same network, that says alot about the efficiency of open-source community projects. So dont bash the network. Just bash the client.

Been trying to use e-mule to find files, but I keep getting the message
"An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end"

then it gives me the same five results from a previous search.

Any help is appreciated.

This is only true if you have already hashed it a long time ago, starting with < a gigabyte?
so for me, a newbie wanting to share 150GB will take at least 3 days before it identify them all.
Just because you can do other thing while it is hashing doesn't mean it is done, look at the hd and it lits up
red, so its really slowing everything down to a crawl. Leeching off other isn't such an easy task either, some of them keep closing my connection! god, that's the lamest thing I have ever seen. There are other who are sucking me on so hard, i swear I am like a cow to them.
