What do people do with empty toner cartridges? i see them being sold on ebay

Usually, if you look in the box and bother to open the manual, there's prepaid return label.

I used to do that with OfficeDepot, but they dont do that anymore. Just $2.50 off your next ink cartridge purchase. Its a ripoff there tho.

I don't know exactly, but perhaps people are buying them on eBay and refilling them with refill kits for cheap.

My father and I refill them.. it only costs about $9.00 for the toner and as long as the drum in in good shape you are good to go.. I have some that have been refilled at least 6-7 times... saves the $$$ ....

Last time they sent me $5 Canadian.
