empty drive bay - top or bottom

I have an empty drive bay - currently the 4th one down from the top. For air flow & cooling, is it better to keep that bottom bay free, or would it be better to instead keep the top bay free?

It came from Velocity Micro - "Case VX - Full tower". I got it about 8 years ago.

are we talking the external accessible 5 1/4 inch bays? probably doesn't matter.
