Employment Dilemma

I just completed a first day of work at a local bagel shop. I don't know what I'm being paid, and I haven't filled out any forms or anything... it's kinda weird...

Well, I can possibly (read: "very probably not") be offered a job by my father's girlfriend doing some form of computer maintenance and/or other tasks (involving the beach?). It's definitely better wok, and it pays in the vicinity of $14 /hour (I just graduated high school, so that's very good).

The dilemma (which probably won't arise anyway) is this -- the manager of the bagel shop put a good deal of effort into teaching me my job today, and it seems rather unkind to quit just one or two days later. Now, this was the first day, and I think he intended it to be used as a trial, and I think it's fair for me to use it just as he did.

Aaarrrrrggggghh!!!!

Does anybody have some advice???

P.S.

If you can get a better job then you have to quit. Just thank your boss for what he has done for you, if he acts like a jerk then you wouldn't have wanted to work for him anyway. You can't let a good opprotunity pass by.

Why don't you know what you're being paid?

You need to know if this job is a possibility or not to even make a real decision...

Very good question... I actually thought that I was coming for an interview and possibly training today; I didn't know it would be a full day of work. The manager asked me to come in again tomorrow, so I'm assuming that I'm hired, and it would definitely be a good idea to find out what I'm being paid. Hell, I should've asked him yesterday... didn't... guess I just assumed that I wasn't in much of a position to be picky, since I was really looking for an immediate job...

I want to know what to do in case I can get the job, so that I can accept it or turn it down immediately, and if all goes well, I'll know if it's available today.

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah, if a great opportunity like that comes along, then go for it. You gotta look out for you, right?

Just don't do anything to jeopardize the first job until you're *sure* you have the second job locked in. Then be professional and polite and tell the guy look, you appreciated the opportunity, but you got the (unexpected) chance at a better job making more money... it happens.
