Employees parking in "carry-out" parking spots.

So I have an Olive Garden 2 blocks away that my wife and I like to get carry out from every few weeks. The last couple times I have gone in to pick up our order, I have had to find a parking spot all the way across the parking lot because both of the "Carry-out Only" spots are taken. Each time this has happened, I have noticed that once I am inside of the restaurant, there is nobody else waiting for carry-out food.

So after about the 3rd time this happens, I decide to say something. I mention it to the lady handing me my food and she says "Well sometimes we have customers who just run in to meet a party really quick." OK, I can understand that. But then she goes on to say "And also, unfortunately I have to admit that some of our employess park there as well." So i tell her that I dont think that is right and how those spots are reserved so I can get my food quickly and get out of there. She of course appologizes and I dont want to be too confrontational so I just let it go.

Well, as I said earlier, I live 2 blocks away and I pass the restaurant just about every day and I've noticed its the same 3 or 4 cars ALWAYS parked in those spots. So obviously my little conversation with the waitress did no good.

I am probably getting dinner there tomorrow night again and of course, I am at my whitts end. I just know that both those spots are going to be taken and actually I am kind of hoping for it to happen just so I can say something to the manager this time. But of course, I wanted to seek the all mighty knowlege of ATOT and see if you guys have any suggestions for me and what I say or do tomorrow when this inevitably occurs once again.

My wife has suggested some nice little notes under their wiper blades but I just think that wont get any results in the end. Any suggestions?

PS - Yes i realize how much of a loser I am for letting this get so far under my skin and no I am not a big fatty too lazy to walk across the parking lot. Its the principle of it!

UPDATE

I spoke with the manager and told him that every time I come in for carry out the spots are always taken and that they are employess who are parking there. He asked me how I knew they were employees and I told him an employee there told me, and also I have noticed it has been the same cars every time parked in those spots. He asked what cars they were and I described them to him. He said he would take care of it and he appologized.

So its been about 5 days since that conversation and for a day or 2 i noticed they were not parking there, but then the last 2 days I have seen those same cars in the same spots again! ARGGGG!

Ask for the general manager. If he's not in, ask for his name so you can mail him a letter or his voice mail so you can leave him a message.

If nothing else, go to olivegarden.com and submit comments that way and let them know how you don't appreciate it when you are inconvenienced by actions of the inconsiderate employees of the restaurant and that you will probably stop patronizing the restaurant since it seems the management doesn't care either since you've informed them multiple times but nothing has been done.

Probably get a free gift card out of it too. :)

ok, heres what I would do.

1. ignore the small stuff
2. quit stalking the parking lot.

If you really care, ask to talk to a manager. Some random waitress is not likely to confront her coworkers and actually get them to stop parking there.

You are correct.

Call the franchisee. The manager won't care. GM or Franchisee.

If you are convinced the parking spot is occupied by an employee or customer who is not returning to their vehicle post-haste then why not just double-park the car in in the carry-out only spot? Not like the owner of the car is gonna get pissed with you if they are busy working.

Dude, just let it go. If you raise a stink with the manager the other employees are probably going to know it was you and you might end up with some spit in your alfredo sauce.

Some people are too lazy to walk across the parking lot and think their time is more valuable than everyone else's. This will never change. If it's any consolation, they work at the Olive Garden...

Your first problem is you're going to Olive Garden. Find a real Italian restaurant.

Either way, it sucks. Either bring it up with management, or stop spending money there.

awesome.

OP,

two options.

Park directly behind the carry out spots.
Eat somewhere else. Certainly, there is a mom and pop Italian place where you live. Don't settle for that garbage at the OG.

No. People who the restaurant has seen fit to give a special parking spot to, because they spend far less time in the restaurant than anyone else.

why wouldn't the manager care? If he is a freaking lazy slob then yeah...but then so could the GM since they are a manager too.

People park in BJ's baby only parking spaces all the time (only been a member for a month now). I haven't seen one person use the spaces yet that actually had a baby.

Only one thing to do........firebomb their car, and beat the sh*t out of them when they come running outside to see why their car's on fire. That'll teach those dirty rotten bastitches!! ;)

Really, parking behind them is going to just get other people pissed at you for parking all fvcked up, and won't teach the offending morons anything. OP, any chance you have a local news hound that likes to do expose pieces? Sure would be fun seeing the offenders get their comeuppance (and subsequent embarassment) on tv, wouldn't it?? :D

What's with the hating on Olive Garden? I've never had better bread sticks or chicken alfredo, at any local Italian place.

Manager doesn't care because he is not directly tied to the success of sales. GM and franchisee are.

-edit-
witholding comment on BJ's baby parking because it's just too wide open.
