Since I could not get the $900 50'' Samsung at Frys,
the manager who is a friend of my uncle said anyday after today I could come into the store, and anything (I would like TV) could be had for invoice price plus 10% off.
Is this a good deal?

Update:
here is one of the deals

PANASONIC TH-50PX75U
for $1190

but I bought the
Olevia 47 1080p
247FTHD for $990

Stick with the Olevia if strictly using for computer usage, or get plasma if you care about picture quality.

But it won't match to contrast of the Panasonic. No way.

i bet most reviews would put the panasonic above the olevia. that panel is considered a damn good plasma.

quality tends to go pioneer>panasonic>samsung>et al.

Um... most people would consider the Panny a better set for actual home theater type stuff. However, if you do plan on doing a lot of computer monitor duty with it, I would definitely go for the higher resolution LCD.

FWIW, Panasonic is widely considered to be one of the top plasma TV producers. The 75u is a great set (though not 1080p it has a great picture).
