Employee discounts...

what companies have the best employee discount programs?

That would be hard to pinpoint since most companies only provide that info to employees I believe.
But, you'd want to look for companies that offer products to other companies. For example, Goodyear provides tires to many auto manufacturers, so you may get a slight discount from these manufacturers, whereas if you work for the auto company itself you may only get discounts on their auto's. Thats an example.
Look for companies that provide services to other companies, not to consumers.

UPS. UPS employees get better disccounts than the employees at Gateway. They also get like 25% Sprint PCS. That's just a couples examples I know of.

whoa, so companies that buy products from your company often give you discounts?

when i used to work for Circuit City, the employee discount was great. You basically pay for the cost of the items.
Audio/Video was like 30% off.
Computer products were about 10-15%
Accessories (cables, adapters...) were about 50% off (USB cables were an exception, the retail value is $24, the cost was $2).
On some items you get no discount at all, such as Playstation 2, Xbox, since the company doesn't make any money selling them (they make money selling the games)...

We get discounts up the wazoo for tons of places... it varies so much we have an internal forum to ask about it. Being in the services business has its benefits.

Enron: Upper Management Division

you get to steal from employees

but if ur not at the top, then the employee discounts are "bad"

their 401k plan had a 99.999% off sale a few years ago

bb is cost I think? 😕

cc is cost + Shipping & handling ...which is BS

mervens is 15% at mervens & target

movie theater .. free movies, soda, & popcorn

panda express is 10%

subway ...1 free sandwich/day

frys is cost then an additional 10% off of that, but they have a limit of how much then can buy per year

These are just from people I know, only know a few 100%

REI's is pretty good (30% off retail, but you can do prodeals that get items at cost as well), but it sucked working there.
