Anyone like me thats really on the fence with buying this game? The weekend steam deal is tempting.

What do you guys think of the game ?

It's awesome. 1.3 patch due tomorrow will fix alot of issues and bring alot of free units + multi-threading- good stuff. :)

If you haven't yet, take a peek at the patch thread.
Here

I personally haven't jumped on this Total War game yet, wasn't impressed with the demo. The Steam weekend sale does make it difficult to resist. ;)

I have it, but I haven't had a system that can play it for a month :(. I enjoyed it, but the fixes are definitely needed.

I'm most likely going to bite. As a huge fan of Shogun, Rome, M/MII, I've been waiting to get this at a discount. I was scared off by how buggy it was reported to be early on.. but this new patch seems like it will do things nicely.

I thought about it, but I don't think the price is worth it for me. I only want it for the naval combat.

Tempting at those price, closer to what it should have been at launch, unpolished fluster cluck that it was.

The question is is the elite unit edition worth the extra money?

I dont think so but others may think differently. The vanilla game is about as good as its going to get IMO. It is a fun game if you enjoy TW games in general. Some good mods out for it now and more will be forthcoming from the community as time goes on and they'll be the ones to make it a much better game. Just my two coppers on it.

Personally I prefer a hard disc but thats just how I am. I know digital download is becoming the future but I really like having a hard copy of any game I buy. $25 is a fair price for the game I think so if you dont mind digital downloads then go ahead and buy it.

I liked the demo so I pulled the trigger on it. 50% off is great! Still downloading though...

Anyone using Win7 have problems with it?

Tried the demo, always crashes when I try to play the tutorial. I assume it would be like that in the full game also.

Running Win 7 64-bit build 7100. No problems but then I didn't have problems with the demo either. Did you update your video card drivers?

I bought the special units at launch and IMO considering its a few $ more I say might aswell go for it. It comes with 6 new units- 2x for Great Britain 1x Ottomons 1x French 1x Spanish and another that is specific if you own a certain territory (ghoorkas in Nepal). Overall they're not game changing but it's alot of fun having HMS Victory sailing into combat with 104 guns :).

Speaking of the large DL. I always thought Steam resumes DL'ing after being paused/exiting. I was at 43% or so last night when I turned off my computer, and today, I'm back at 0%. Does it no longer resume, or is it simply basin the % on the remaining download? As in, it's now at 0% of the remaining 57% of the whole.
