You don't need any wonders. I don't know for sure what the requirements are, but it's never been a problem for me. Just make sure you have plenty of resources. I think sometimes you're just held back from advancing to far ahead of the computer.

You have to add at least 2 new buildings (of any kind, outside of towers) and spend a certain amount of resources (for example, building armies or villagers) to advance to the next age. You don't need any wonders etc, though they count as a 'building' as well.

Keep in mind that resources you 'spend' on a building are not counted towards the resource spending requirement -- you have to build armies or villagers and thus spend gold/iron/food etc.

It's right on the map that came with the game in big 18pt font by the legend. They only epoch requirement is that you must build two buildings (towers and walls don't count).

I'm looking for a new game, I've finished MOHAA and I don't want to play another shooter ATM. Would you guys recommend this one?

Fool,

The AI cheats. It's annoying as hell. In addition resources are unlimited but gather rate is restricted. You decide.

Same question I have, any other opinions?

I really liked Age of Empires 2 a lot, is this similar, I believe a different company made this one. I played the demo and thought it was fun but not as good as AoE2, the fighting was a lot more difficult to control I thought, but I am interested in it becuase it has so many ages and units.

This game replaced CS as my favorite thing to waste my spare time on. It blows AofE away. Network games with friends against the computer are fun too.

Empire Earth was developed by the same person that did the original AOE. It is very similary to AOE and AOE2, just with 14 ages instead of just 4. I thorougly enjoy playing the game, though the unit AI is severly lacking (you really have to micromanage villagers building walls, or it is 100% certain they will wall themselves in and you end up having to destroy them).

Also, I've never noticed the AI cheating in this game at all, though, like in most RTS games, when switching to higher difficulty levels, it's not the AI that gets tougher, the computer simply gets bonuses (such as faster resource gathering, faster unit production, lower production costs).

I like the unlimited resource model as well. It is still important to expand and get more resource patches because there is a limit to how fast you can gather from any 1 resource patch. They need to make it unlimited so that you can have more prolonged battles, and things don't degenerate in the end to having to rely on 1 last marine being able to take out the enemy because you are out of resources, as often would happen in StarCraft if you let the game go too long.

I got Empire Earth for Christmas and I've played maybe 5 games... something's lacking that doesn't give it the same catch that AoE 2 had. I think the create-a-civ could have been done better, personally. The game just isn't as fun as AoE 2.

You have never noticed that the AI is always in the exact same epoch as you are? I've only managed to get ahead epoch wise 3 times. Last game I played two days ago I advanced to WWI and the computer was hitting me with WWI tank's in 2 minutes. The computer is aware of what you have at all times. A properly designed AI wouldn't cheat to that level. You will also NOT sneak attack on the main AI area. It will always have troops on the way to head you off before you get there.

This game is another RTS, only with a huge amount of units and a 3d engine.

If one hasn't had enough of build & destroy type of games, then this one is certainly fun.

Darn! I was thinking you could go blowaway some stone age civilization with tanks or some thing like that. Stuff like that makes for a short game but it is funny to watch.

I think a certain amount of time has to pass before you can upgrade to the next age. You can upgrade from epoch to epoch relatively quickly. But there has to be a certain amount of time between switching ages. Like you could theoreticaly go from renaissance to industrial really quickly, but you'll have to wait till say 20 minutes passes before you can go to atomic. You can upgrade as fast as you want within an age, but going to the next one requires the time limit.

I also hate how you can put the 6 person max on every mine you have, and the AI can put 3 people on every mine they have, and despite the fact you have more guys working on your mines, they'll end up with the same amount of resources as you. Oh, and the AI upgrades epoches about 2-3 minutes after you do. It kinda sucks that way, but other than that, it's fun.

Hmmm... I was playing this morning and I was two ages ahead of the computer. It's fun to blow up all their wooden ships with subs and bomb their buildings with airplanes when they can't make AA guns. :D

Forget all the building and moving through Civilizations crap... just get on the ZONE and play DEATHMATCH. It is much more funner. You build up quick and fight huge wars. Ahhh... those were the days until I had my wife hide the CD's because I was spending endless hours on that friggin' game.
