Has anyone tried this game out?

http://ec.hithere.com/

I was pretty skeptical about the game at first (well, I still am.. see my last paragraph below if tl;dr). However it has a massive amount of depth to it that I haven't even scratched the whole surface yet even after playing casually for the last three days.

It is similar to other online RPGs in that you have your main city, you construct buildings (there are 31 types), you go out in the world and battle monsters, other people, or take over mines. You can join a guild and send mail to other people, like other web based RPGs. One feature that is very nice is a lot of everything is quest based, which keeps things interesting (although the quest descriptions are pretty horribly written).

It has an interesting battles system where you attach an army to a "hero", a person you hire from your tavern that has typical RPG stats. Every day you can hire new heroes, and they can be normal, uncommon, rare, or epic depending on your luck. After a battle you gets items and chests that you can use.

For the first week after you start up an account, you are in newbie phase and can't attack others and others can't attack you, which IMHO is nice.

The biggest negative I have against the game (and other games in the genre all suffer from this) is that a lot of beneficial upgrades and enhancements require you buy crystals. We're talking real money here... $10 for 100 crystals. An example of an enhancement is an item that allows you to add an extra task to your building queue for one week. This costs 75 crystal ($7.50). Yeah right.

The game really pushes you to buy crystals to get "cool stuff", which really detracts from the game and honestly I am doubtful I will play the game long term because of this. But still in the short term it has been fun to play and I do recommend trying it out if you like these sorts of games.

You seem pretty undecided about this game. I suggest re-examining your thoughts, then editing your post to reflect your revised review. Everyone knows this.
