I know Forum Issues is probably the right place to post this, but ATOT seems to be where the action is at.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I really like using emoticons when I'm posting on forums and Anandtech seems to have a limited selection of them, especially animated ones, where there are only 3. I searched for similiar topics, but nothing came up as far wanting more emoticons. I just wanted to maybe start a petition for AT to add more. I do frequent other forums such as tweaksrus.com or elderscrolls.com forums for my gaming needs and I find their animated emoticons hilarious. Just thought I'd suggest AT to make their site more enjoyable to post at as well. I put up a poll, if you guys agree/disagree.

Also, if you have any suggestions of what new emoticons to add, post it in your response. I find the smily face holding up the Google sign to be somewhat hilarious to look at and rather useful for the hardware sections of AT forums. But I really like pretty much all the ones from tweakrus and elderscrolls forums...gotta register to see them of course, but I think its worth it just to get a laugh.

If this gets enough attention, I'd like to post it up in Forum Issues linking to this topic so maybe one of the moderators will do something to make SOME of us ATers happy.

[Oh and if you think this topic is useless, then don't post, simple as that. [/b]

I think it useless so I posted and locked it.

Nah dude. AT's great becuase it's interface is intuitive. Adding all these animated emoticons would defeat the purpose.

Animated emoticons? What's next, pictures embedded in posts?

One of the reasons I like AT forums is because it doesn't have all that bandwidth wasting crap. If I want to see a picture, I'll click on a link.

Mostly it's immature, 13-year-old males who enjoy message board threads with hundreds of over-used, tacky, animated emoticons strewn about haphazardly.

It took an act of god to get :cookie: (and basically everyone started using it before the icon even existed). Your meager suggestion is hereby summarily rejected.

I agree, and knowing ATOT we'd probably post some almost NSFW content on there and get people fired :p

Fixed, good point though...I suppose it would make the forum subject to a lot of reckless postings.

And to Gunslinger, I'm not an immature 13 year old, I'm 25, but I figure just a few more wouldn't hurt, but I do see your point of those 13 year olds who would abuse it and can cause a bandwidth issue as Amol stated.

I'm starting to feel that the opinions will be divided on this issue, ah well, thought it was worth a shot.

Ok Ok...I can see we obviously wouldn't all be happy about it...edited to show less obliviousness
