Fail.

OK. So the thumbs down works. Why don't the beer mugs work?
Test.

[edit2]
After my first edit, the thumbs down emoji that was in my post disappeared. The one in the title is still fine.

Works if it's not at the start or end. I guess it's treated as whitespace by some parser. Also, saving a regular edit without clicking "go advanced" corrupts it.

Time to bump this because I discovered another emoji issue. If I enter emoji in the advanced editing window, they're fine. But if I then edit the post without going advanced, they turn into those question-mark diamonds.

Just to be clear, to the best of my knowledge we're not blocking emoji. Rather vB 3.x is so old that it predates their common usage on the web. Which means it doesn't know how to properly (and consistently) parse them.

We'd have to switch the entire database from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8, and with vB that's more likely to go wrong than right.

Wait, so is that what those question mark diamonds are suppose to be? I see those pretty much on all websites. That and squares with numbers in them. I've been seeing a lot of those too.

Your browser is having trouble decoding some text. Usually the website's fault for supplying the wrong encoding.
